Crown Point, IN Dental Sedation for Complete Comfort
Not every patient will need to consider dental sedation, but there are a number of situations where these treatments can be beneficial. We recommend dental sedation for those patients who struggle with dental phobia and anxiety, who have sensitive teeth, gums, or gag reflex, who need a number of treatments in a single visit, and those who have difficulty numbing with local anesthesia alone. If any of these descriptions sound familiar, contact Advanced Dental Concepts to find out more about sedation dentistry services.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Popular among those patients whose dental phobias make it difficult for them to leave home for the dentist, oral conscious sedation takes effect before patients arrive at our office. The dentist will prescribe an oral sedative, and on the day of your appointment, you’ll need to take the pill at the predetermined time. Have a friend or family member bring you to our office, and we’ll be able to begin work right away. The effects of oral conscious sedation are strong and long lasting, and those patients who choose oral conscious sedation are comfortable throughout even the most complex procedures. You will need to have someone drive you home following treatment, and should not plan to resume daily activities for at least 12 hours after your procedure.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
One of the longest used forms of sedation, nitrous oxide is a gas inhaled through a nasal mask. This fast acting sedative is administered by the doctor in our office, and the dosage can be adjusted throughout your procedure to ensure optimal comfort. The effects of nitrous oxide wear away as quickly as they set in, so patients can plan to resume their daily activities directly following treatment. There’s no need to have a friend drive you to and from our office.
